An unforgettable Easter in Cilento

In the heart of ancient Cilento, is still alive the tradition of "congregate", ancient associations of the faithful, and as a pilgrimage to visit the various "subbùrci" of the area.

This is the allegorical play of the tomb of Jesus, which is here placed on Holy Thursday the Blessed Sacrament.

On Friday, the day is dedicated to the sacred rites that will take place between thirty small villages on the slopes of Mount Stella, around Torchiara.

The brotherhoods of each village, their uniforms and banners of their own group, will perform simultaneously hundreds of pilgrims between the houses and churches of the area, forming a striking circular plot overlay of processions and polyphonic songs.

On Saturday, we suggest a visit to the archaeological site of Velia with a traditional lunch with the first fruits of spring and in the afternoon walk in the woods coast of Punta Licosa.

The Easter also called "the king Pasca eggs." On this second baking is done, a real ritual accompanied by ancient beliefs.

With scraps of bread dough is prepared "vicchio lu", twisted piece of white bread with a boiled egg in the middle to give to children or loved one. In every country u 'vicchio has the form: pie, round with the egg in the center, or in Vicchio, a sort of braid that makes the idea of a newborn.

On Easter morning in Borgoricco is a brunch where you can taste the food of the ancient Passover tradition Cilento: Pizza King maccaruni, wheat pizza king, pizza king laughed.

The queen par excellence is the pizza Chien, "stuffed" with headcheese, fresh goat cheese and boiled eggs, prepared on Friday to enjoy it "rested" on the day of celebration.

Easter Monday after an aperitif at Paestum in front of the beautiful temples of Poseidon at Mass at the Shrine of the Madonna del Granato which offers a breathtaking view over the whole plain of the Sele.
