Story Riders is back, the event now in its fifth edition, under the patronage of the Municipality of Torchiara, the Province of Salerno, the Campania Region and the Cilento National Park, transforms Torchiara into the land of stories.

The preview of the event will be held at the Palazzo Baronale de Conciliis on Friday 30 August starting at 6.00 pm with the greetings of the Mayor of Torchiara Massimo Farro, of the President of the National Park of Cilento Tommaso Pellegrino, of the President of BCC Buccino and Cilento’s Lucio Municipalities Alfieri.

Rewarded some companies of great excellence of the Cilento enogastronomy, such as the Antica Giara, the butcher Paragano, Alma di Mautone Vincenzo, the winery of Alfonso Rotolo, the oil mill Conti, the farm Ferrante, the craft brewery FIEJ, the Gusto Picone and the Barone wine company.

But the real novelty of this year is that from Story Riders starts a new project conceived by Angela Riccio and Elio Rumma, Paths of Contemporary Art, a series of permanent installations that will be placed in the Cilento inland municipalities, made with poor materials by artists of national and international fame that will come to tell stories of art and installations. We will start from six Municipalities of the Upper Cilento, the Mayors joined with enthusiasm: Francesco Alfieri Mayor of Capaccio Paestum, Gerardo Antelmo Mayor of Cicerale, Giovanni Cantalupo Mayor of Prignano C.to, Giuseppe Rotolo Mayor of Rutino, Angelo Serra Mayor of Laureana and Massimo Farro mayor of Torchiara. Six artists who have joined the project: Elio Rumma his films have been screened in major museums around the world including the Maxxi in Rome, the MOMA in New York and the Tate Modern in London, “I approach this artistic adventure with enthusiasm because I would like to leave a contribution to this which is my homeland, “says Rumma. Tommaso Cascella, who belongs to a famous family of painters and sculptors who in turn is present in numerous public and private collections around the world, claims to have welcomed the invitation to participate with one of his works at the start of a journey artistic through the hilltop villages of Cilento because “these strongly affirm they will have to become increasingly poles of artistic attraction and culture. Gabriele Rothemann German lives and works in Vienna, has exhibited all over the world and in 2018 was awarded by the city of Vienna as an artist of the year, “I love Cilento, Rothemann states, and for many years I have been on vacation, always in Torchiara a Borgo A starting point for beautiful excursions, I love Torchiara and I am happy to leave here a tangible sign of my feelings ”.

Stella Tundo has works exhibited in institutional spaces in Italy and abroad, works in which the choice of materials and shapes always reflect reflections on nature. Cilento for me, claims Stella Tundo, is the place of the soul that I attended and where I began to listen to the space of time here is therefore my joy of leaving one of my works inspired by the places.

Giorgio Galli, Roman, exhibits regularly in Italy and abroad, founder of the Roman group of the New Abstraction. “I am excited to participate in this project which sees places with ancient traditions and a history of revolutionaries as protagonists – says Galli – I believe that it will be a unique experience to collaborate with the Cilentans in the realization of my work.”

Eleonora Del Brocco is particularly attentive to social issues, her works are found in France, Iraq, Spain, awarded in 2000 with the Gold Prize in Baghdad. “Mine will be a tribute to Cilento women – says Del Brocco – I will create three-dimensional white chalk works, stories of shadows cast on the walls that will emerge as if by magic.”

All these artists will be coordinated by an excellent speaker, great connoisseur of art, Erminia Pellecchia of Il Mattino.

Following another excellent presence that returns to Story Riders for the second year, Virginio Colmegna, President of the Casa della Carità Foundation who will comment on the stories of the artists discussing “what beauty will save the world”, with the publisher Nunziante Mastrolia who starting this year he will publish the winning stories of the Common People contest. “Beauty is a journey that calls for the contemplative dimension to be rediscovered – says Don Colnegna – to make sense of the future by recovering the past. Today, in such a difficult moment, rediscovering beauty concludes Don Colmegna means changing the communicative language. “

“The event – states Alberto Zobbi, President of the Ergo South Cultural Association which organizes the event – represents a moment of stimulation and cultural growth for the territory with its large billboard of illustrious guests.  I would particularly like to thank the Park Authority, the BCC Buccino and Comuni Cilentani, the SICME Energia e Gas which have been following us for years and contribute to the realization of this event and from this year Opificio Santomiele and Convergenze.

After the preview we will be meeting from 4 to 6 October with many literary meetings, the writing workshop, the awarding of the stories sent to the Common People Competition, film screenings that for three days will transform the village into a place of stimulation and confrontation cultural.
